Dealing with Cravings

Cravings are our worst enemies when trying to lose weight or maintain a certain diet. They are powerful, uncontrollable and intense desire for specific foods and these foods are usually junks that are high in sugar.
Cravings are also said to be selective Hunger as they are targeted at specific foods which needs to be eaten to gain satisfaction. When cravings sets in, they are usually so intense as they are stronger than normal Hunger.

If your goal is to lose weight, start a new diet or maintain your current weight, here are some tips to help you deal with those cravings.......

Increase Your Water Intake: aside from keeping you hydrated, drinking enough water helps you stay full, prevents you from overeating and also curb your appetite there by preventing you from unnecessary hunger which most times are mere cravings.

Don't Starve Yourself: starvation is never the answer to weight loss rather it slows your metabolism and also cause us to easily give into cravings. Eat a balanced diet  meal which keeps you satisfied and this will help you fight off those cravings as the body is already nourished.

Manage Your Stress Level: stress is likely to induce cravings and also cause you to eat out of proportion. Stress raises the blood levels of cortisol, a hormone that can make you gain weight especially in the belly area. You can minimize stress by engaging in yoga and meditation.

Shop Fruits and Vegetables Instead of Junks: the saying out of sight is out of mind is also applicable to food. Keeping those junks you crave for away from your fridge, kitchen, home is also the same as keeping them away from your thoughts. Substitute junks with fruits and vegetables so even when cravings sets in, you satisfy it with healthy options.

Focus on Thoughts that Aren't Food: thinking of a certain type of food will only cause you to crave for it. Instead of focusing your thoughts on food, think of something else like football, your next vacation, a future promotion, fashion, etc.
